Accessibull Eats has several key principles guiding its work. When following the Accessibull Eats guidelines and running your business, you should keep these principles in mind.
1. Aim for full accessibility
We want a society that is fully inclusive of all people, regardless of ability or identity. That means we will do everything we can to create a fully inclusive society.
We accept that constraints such as funding and heritage listings exist, and they may restrict our ability to take the easiest path towards full inclusion. However, there are so many other things that we can do to make incremental steps towards making the things under our control more accessible.
2. Design for everyone
We want to make sure that we take into account what makes people feel comfortable, safe and like they are equal with other customers. This means using the principles of Universal Design right from the beginning of the design process.
Environments should be designed to meet the needs of all people who wish to use it. This means thinking deeply about who your target market are, what their diverse needs and abilities are, and designing your product or service to ensure it is accessible, usable, convenient and a pleasure to use.
You can learn more about Universal Design in our Guidelines.
3. Give people choice
We want customers to feel empowered in choosing the best product or service that is right for them. This means providing people with all the information that they need to decide whether or not it suits their needs and desires.
If you have a product, service or environment that is very vision friendly, but not very physically accessible, make this information clear on your website. This means that people with vision impairments can choose to prioritise your business, and people with physical impairments can make informed decisions about whether or not they want to use your business.
